It's been a bit. These past few months have had their ups and downs, but there are two things I want to tell the world.
First, I have a job. Yours truly is making a huge pivot to become a 911 Dispatcher for the RCMP. I will be starting training at the end of July. I am looking forward to this move. I know it is a stressful, difficult job, but I feel like I will still find more balance there. Unless I say something otherwise, assume that I am still doing that job. While in training, most of my shifts will be from 7am to 3pm. After the middle of December, I will be moving over to shift work of 4 days on (2 days, 2 nights) and 4 days off. They will be 12 hr shifts, but considering the insane hours I was pulling at the end for my last job, I think I can handle the length of the shift. Adjust to working days followed by nights is going to be a much bigger transition for me.
Second, I have started writing again. In the last few days, I have written several pieces of flash fiction and a 5K word short story.
I am so happy to be able to be writing again. It feels like forever since I finished a story that I started... or even attempted to write.
Just a short update for now, hopefully I will have more to keep reporting to you in the future.
